Please let me know if this isn't the place to post this kind of question. I love the game A Dark Room, and since having played it about 50 times I've felt the need to move on. They're ok, but not quite the level that ADR is. Specifically, it bothers me that if I'm not ON the tab itself, the Kitten game won't progress at any decent rate, unlike games like Cookie Clicker. The games you reference are acts of genius in a lot of ways. They do not come along all that often. And if you find one as smart and nifty as that tell US. Also, Radiation Island is the same concept, except in a beautiful 3d world.
Depends on what you liked about A Dark Room. You have the best incrementals listed, so what I suggest will generally not be in this genre. If it was the storyline, there are the Fallout games - roving hero in a postapocalyptic land. There is also Neo-Scavenger which is a roguelike. If it was the ability to build a production line, I would suggest trying Factorio.
Nothing really comes close to the production fun in that one. Well, maybe Dwarf Fortress. And if it was using the production to do cool stuff, I would suggest maybe The Guild 2.
Only game I know of where you can use the scribes you employ to denounce your rival so he loses the Mayorship so you get elected and can lower taxes on your own goods to parley those profits into expanding into the Rogues Guild. In any event, those are some awesome games to try out if you have never played them.
I'm not the OP, but these games look awesome, I can't wait to try them out. TBH mainly the low-maintenance aspect of it no high graphic images, no loud sounds and the peaceful nature of the process.
Not op but one of my favourite aspects of ADR is that you don't need to break your mouse by clicking as rapidly as you can, but it's still most efficient to click as soon as the buttons are ready to go. ADR certainly opened my eyes to the genre and it was of great inspiration to me as well in creating my own game so, while I'm not the OP, there's some nice suggestions here!
Thanks guys. Ive made a post on it but I really need it now. If you don't mind then can someone please explain how in the simplest way. I also need load. Are you planning on using local storage on the player's pc? If so, I'll show you exactly how to do it. And it's quite easy.
Actually I'll just show you anyway, since you should do it this way. Say you have three variables you want to save: 'name', 'money', and 'prestigePoints'.
Put the variables you want to save in an object. Otherwise each time you add something to the game you'll also have to remember to add it to this obejct for saving. It converts your object to a JSON string so it can do the serialization in a simple standardized plain text way. There's some setting in Kittens Game that makes background tabs work better.
I forget what it is though. Multiplayer game, cloud saves, end game very different from the start, yada yada. A Dark Room is great but I disagree with you on your relative statements regarding the Candy Box games.
Could you expand on that? I wasn't impressed with either of the Candy Box games. Games most like A Dark Room?
Posted by 6 years ago. Sort by: best. There's a Prequel called 'The En'. Both of those are IOS only, unfortunately. I'm not op but thanks for this. I wish there were a Guild 3. Just open it in a new window. Continue this thread. What elements from ADR are you looking for?
I believe its Web Worker.
But Candy Box 2 is just head and shoulders above both of them. This subreddit is for lovers of games that feature an incremental mechanism, such as unlocking progressively more powerful upgrades, or discovering new ways to play the game. This genre is growing at a break-neck pace, be part of the revolution! Created Sep 14, Top posts may 25th Top posts of may, Top posts Back to Top.Games like a dark room reddit
